A story of Old Parents

Story of Old Parents

After his father's death, the Son decided to leave his mother at an old age home and visited her on and off.
Once he received a call from the old age home. Your mom is very serious please come and visit her.
So the son went and saw that his mom was very critical and on her dying bed.
He asked: Mom what can I do for you.

Mom replied : "Please install fans in the old age home, as there are none. Also put a fridge for betterment of food because many times I slept without food".

The son was surprised and asked : Mom, while you were here you never complained, but now you have few hours left and you are telling me all this, why?

Mom replied : "It's OK dear, I've managed with the heat, hunger pain, but when your children will send you here, I am afraid you will not be able to manage.!

Worth Pondering!!!

The Cow with the Owner- a story

The Cow with the Owner

The Teacher was walking through the market place with his students. They saw a man dragging a cow by a rope. Teacher told the man to wait and asked his disciples to surround them. "I am going to teach you something" and continued...
"Tell me who is bound to whom? Is the cow bound to this man or the man is bound to the cow?
The students said without hesitation "Of course the cow is bound to the man!. The man is the master. He is holding the rope. The cow has to follow him wherever he goes. The man is the master and the cow is the slave."
"Now watch this", said the teacher and took a pair of scissors from his bag and cut the rope. The cow ran away from the master and the man ran after his cow. "Look, what is happening", said the Teacher .
"Do you see who the Master is? The cow is not at all interested in this man. The cow in fact, is trying to escape from this man." This is the case with our mind.
Like the cow, all the non-sense that we carry inside is not interested in us. We are interested in it, we are keeping it together somehow or the other. We are going crazy trying to keep it all together under our control.
The moment we lose interest in all the garbage filled in our head, and the moment we understand the futility of it, it will start to disappear. Like the cow, it will escape and disappear." We can allow disappearing of all the unwanted things from our mind and feel relaxed.

If You Think by Walter D. Wintle

If You Think by Walter D. Wintle

If You Think

If you think you are beaten, you are.

If you think you dare not, you don't!

If you want to win, but think you can't,

It's almost a cinch you won't.

If you think you'll lose, you're lost;

For out in the world we find

Success begins with a fellow's will;

It's all in the state of the mind.

Life's battles don't always go

To the stronger and faster man,

But sooner or later the man who wins

Is the man who thinks he can.

The Mother Reading Magazine

Moral Story

 The Mother Reading Magazine

A Mother was reading a magazine and her cute little daughter every now and then distracted her.
To keep her busy, she tore one page on which was printed the map of the world.
She tore it into pieces and asked her to go to her room and put them together to make the map again.
She was sure her daughter would take a lot more time and probably whole of day to get it done.
But the little one came back within minutes with perfect map.
When she asked how she could do it so quickly, she said,
"Oh Mom, there is a man';s face on the other side of the paper. I made the face perfect to get the map right." she ran outside to play leaving the mother surprised.
Moral : Perhaps there is always the other side to whatever you experience in this world.
This story indirectly teaches a lesson. That is:
Whenever we come across a challenge or a puzzling situation, Look at the other side...
&
Will be surprised to see an easy way to tackle the problem or an acute difficulty.

Perfection is a Habit

Story : Perfection is a Habit

In some workplaces Perfection is a Habit, not an Attitude!

Apparently, the  American Computer Giant IBM decided to have some parts manufactured in Japan as a trial. In the specifications, they set standard that they will accept only three defective pieces per 10,000 pieces.

When the delivery came to IBM there was a letter accompanying it.

 "We, Japanese people, had a hard time understanding North American business practices. But the three defective parts per 10,000 pieces have been separately manufactured and have been included in the consignment in a separate package mentioned -- ';

Defective pieces as required; not for use.'; Hope this meets your requirement.

The story of Force of Habit

The story of Force of Habit

One day a man found a book in his attic.
The book was so old that the papers were yellow and some of the pages crumbled as he turned them.
He discovered that it was a book on magic but try as he might he could not understand any portion of it except one paragraph. The paragraph stated that on the shores of the Black Sea there was a pebble that could turn anything it was touched to into gold. This pebble, the ancient writer said, could be distinguished from the others only by touching it : unlike the other pebbles it was warm to the touch.
The man went to the shores of the Black Sea and began to search for the pebble.
From morning to night he would pick up pebbles and feel them.
To ensure that he did not pick up the same pebble twice he would fling every pebble he picked up, far out into the sea.
The days stretched into weeks and then into months. A year passed. Then another. The man went on looking for the pebble. But every pebble he picked up was as cold as ice and he flung them away as fast as he picked them. Now he had become so expert at it that he could pick up a pebble and fling it into the sea with one smooth action.
One evening as he was wearily leaving the beach after another day';s search he saw a pebble in front of him.
He picked it up. It was warm. But out of force of habit he flung it far out into the sea!

What is an Excellence?

What is Excellence?

We all talk about it, and most of us feel we're doing an excellent job, but what is it, anyway?
Excellence is more than just doing well, or being good.
The dictionary uses words like:
  • Outstanding
  • Extremely good
  • Superior
  • Eminent
There are many ideas about what excellence is, but it's pretty clear what it's NOT. Excellence is NOT a destination. It's about getting better, developing, growing, improving, and giving it your all every day. Think about the phrases typically associated with excellence:
  • Giving your best everyday
  • Getting better everyday
  • Relentless pursuit of perfection
  • Exceeding expectations
  • Moving from good to great
  • On the leading edge
  • Pushing the envelope
  • Exceeding high standards
  • Exceptional performance
  • Standard setting
That's why we're so committed to the concept of development: it truly is the key to excellence.
What's your view of excellence?
